Creative Director at Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Dies at 85
Praised as a prolific icon and credited by many for revitalising the French fashion house Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director at Chanel, passed away at age 85. Lagerfeld was instantly recognisable by his signature white hair and sunglasses.
Revitalise (v) 活化
Revitalise（活化）即是為目標對象重新注入活力或賦予它新的用途，使它回復昔日光輝，政府各種活化計畫正是revitalisation scheme(s)。如果目標對象本身一直以來沒甚麼名氣，又或是問世不久而未曾經歷興衰，就不適合用上此字。
•The stimulus package aims to revitalise the battered economy.
US McDonald's Selling Chinese "Youtiao"?
McDonald's in the US has introduced a new item to its breakfast menu which, intentionally or otherwise, looks a lot like a miniature version of the traditional Chinese breakfast food - youtiao. Officially called Donut Sticks, the fried dough sticks are reported to not only bear a close resemblance to youtiao, but even taste like it if ordered without the normally added cinnamon sugar.
Miniature (adj) 小型的
雖然在日常生活中使用mini就足以表達「迷你的/小型的」的意思，但它的正確寫法是miniature。如果想表達某人/物是另一個人/物的迷你版本，可以說︰n1 + be/look like + a miniature version of + n2。

Vivian Kong Becomes World's No.1 Épée Fencer
Who says Hong Kong athletes are rubbish? According to International Fencing Federation's ranking update, Hong Kong's épée fencer Man Wai Vivian Kong has just risen to the very top, edging out her Korean rival Young Mi Kang, who shares the same aggregate points, by having more first place finishes.
Edge (sb/sth) out (ph) 勝過（某人/物）
同學應知道名詞edge除了解作「邊緣」亦可解作「優勢」，因此如果把它用作動詞，「以優勢迫走某人/物」，即是勝過了某人/物（特別是僅以些微之差分出勝負），與另一動詞defeat的意思相近。

There was a time when Blockbuster was the go-to place for people from all walks of life to rent movies and games, but as online streaming services became the norm, the king of home entertainment was rendered obsolete. Following the closure of its Australian branch, will its very last store in Oregon be able to keep up with the times, or will it be washed away in the raging torrent of time, forgotten and forsaken?
Obsolete (adj) 多餘的
Obsolete的最準確意思是「淘汰的」，只是中英文對「淘汰」的用法不同。中文視它為動詞，多以被動形態使用，例如「該職位已是多餘的了，會被淘汰」；但英文則視它為形容詞，例如︰The position is now obsolete.
•The floppy disc became obsolete years ago. Kids these days might not even know what it is.
