趙Sir：以下是在Xenophobe's Guide to the Americans（《美國人》）一書中，"Custom and Tradition"一章，關於'Holidays'的第四段第二句，試改正錯處：
Every town puts in the more lavish public fireworks display it can affect, and many families light up their own Roman candles and sparklers.
（每個城鎮都會展示他們所能負擔的最漂亮的煙花，許多家庭還會點燃自己的羅馬蠟燭和煙花棒。）
Paul：這句第一個錯處是in這個preposition（介系詞），「展示」應是puts on；第二個錯處是more，由於它之前用上the這個definite article（定冠詞），而在the後面一般會用superlative（最高級），故這裏應改為most；第三個錯處是affect，「負擔」是afford而不是affect；第四個錯處是介系詞up，應刪去，因為light已有「點燃」的意思。以下是全句的「修正版」：
Every town puts on the most lavish public fireworks display it can afford, and many families light their own Roman candles and sparklers.
